This page documents the listening environment used at Incidence Studio and how it supports reliable mastering decisions, especially in the low-end.

  • Sub energy is controlled, not exaggerated

  • Translation from studio to club systems is predictable

This is not about specifications. It is about removing uncertainty when making critical decisions.

Measurements are taken at the listening position using Room EQ Wizard, without smoothing, to reflect real working conditions with highest accuracy.

A Frequency Response You Can Trust

Infrasonic Foundation (8Hz - 175Hz response shown): low-end energy to be

perceived as structure rather than pressure. Unlike most rooms that roll off at 30Hz,

this room has a flat response to the seismic floor (down to below 10Hz)

Perceptual Balance (full range 20Hz - 20kHz flatness): What is heard here reflects

the true spectral intention of the mix, without emphasis or masking. This allows tonal

decisions to be made quickly, accurately, and without second-guessing thanks to an

exceptionally linear frequency response: ±3,5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz and an incredible -5dB at 10Hz

A pristine temporal control

Frequency balance is only half of the story.

What truly defines clarity, punch, and separation is how fast the room lets sound

disappear.

Sub Decay time (5Hz-232Hz range shown on graph) : decay time not exceeding 0,25s down to 5Hz

with only very small but up to 0,45s at 20Hz

In this space, low-frequency energy decays rapidly and evenly, allowing transients to

remain sharp and rhythmic information to stay intelligible. Bass notes stop when they

should, kicks don’t linger, and groove remains intact — even at very low frequencies.

Flat Decay time : approx 180ms decay through the whole spectrum

Across the entire spectrum, decay behaviour remains uniform. No frequency hangs

on longer than another, which means the room adds no tonal fingerprint of its own.

What you hear is the timing and articulation of the music itself, without smearing,

masking, or artificial warmth.

RT60 (Reverb time) showing a very tight and ultra linear decay across the whole

spectrum. Confirmation of the tonal neutrality of the room

Clarity index displaying an impressive 99,6% score: transient information remains

intact and intelligible, allowing fine timing and dynamic details to be judged without

masking or blur.

By combining massive passive treatment with 4x PSI Audio AVAA units, and custom

speaker decouplers from the ground, I have achieved a stellar flat decay time (RT60) of

250ms down to 10Hz. This level of control ensures that low-frequency energy stops

precisely when it should — in the room, and in your music.

Low-frequency energy is therefore controlled rather than accumulated, allowing

precise judgment of kick impact, sub weight, and groove interaction.

This environment supports mastering decisions.
